Electorate Expectations
DCRA welcomes the election of five TDs to represent the residents of County
Meath: John Bruton and Damien English (FG) and Noel Dempsey, John Brady and
Mary Wallace (FF).
DCRA recommends four critical principles essential to the implementation of
their democratic roles in our communities:
1. Representation of residents which involves active
participation and partnership with communities.
2. Transparency implies not only the disclosure
of information on decisions taken but also the reasons why.
3. Accountability requires inquiry, consultation
and proof of listening demonstrated by actions taken. Residents have the unquestionable
right to monitor, question and assess the productivity and performance of their
elected representatives.
4. All TDs in Meath have a collective responsibility to treat all communities
across the county with Equity of Regard with respect
to resourcing and funding.
