Volume 1 Issue 4 DUNBOYNE COMBINED
RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION October 2000
The Dunboyne Green Belt Must be Preserved
-
Well done to all who have made known their views to Meath
County Council & politicians
-
1,600 individually signed letters submitted to Meath County
Council
-
Public Meeting of 700 residents - all, except five, agreed
it should be preserved
-
Cllr Mary Bergin agrees. John Bruton TD has made clear
his support in his letter to residents
-
The 3 Fianna Fail County Councillors - none of them
from Dunboyne - oppose the wishes of our community and say they will
vote to have the Green Belt developed
-
Fianna Fail TD Mary Wallace is silent. She refuses even
to talk to DCRA
Dunboyne Castle and Grounds
-
Promises have been made to the GAA, the Boxing Club and
Athletics Club if they support the rezoning of Dunboyne Castle grounds
for development
-
The owner/developer wants to build approximately 60 acres
of housing on the demesne
-
DCRA says NO because:-
- The Castle and grounds should be developed as a
public park for leisure, sport, community amenities and tourism
- This property should remain zoned agricultural so
that time is allowed to explore ways to bring about what this community
has so clearly stated it wants - a public park.
Massive Housing Development in Dunboyne
is Not Acceptable
-
At present Dunboyne is experiencing water shortages
-
Sewage waste disposal capacity is inadequate for an expanded
population
-
Community facilities, especially our schools, are even
now overstretched
-
Transport infrastructure is already overloaded - traffic
tailbacks worsening by the day
-
Linking Dunboyne to Greater Dublin is not acceptable
-
Dunboyne would never be a village again
What Happens Now?
-
Our Councillors are presently making decisions to amend
the draft plan which we hope will be more in line with the expressed views
of Dunboyne residents
-
These amendments are due to go on public display for a
one month consultation period from mid November
-
We will keep you informed

do you wish to see in Dunboyne?
